Upcoming ExoPC All In One Dual Core Touchscreen PC

ExoPC has made expand its product offer by bringing out two new all-in-one PCs running Microsoft's Windows 7. Set for a June release, the AiOs currently in the works at ExoPC have 18.5-inch and 23-inch touchscreens, the former model being powered by a dual-core Atom processor, while the latter is equipped with a more powerful chip, likely still coming from Intel. The June arrival would suggest a Computex launch but ExoPC may offer more info about the two PCs earlier than that.

Memory Hoarder: Recycle Old Memory Cards in a Flash

It seems that no matter how hard we try to keep our tech stuff neat and tidy, we always amass piles and piles of obsolete gadgets. Things like old phone chargers, unneeded discs – and memory cards. Scads of memory cards! This funky design would actually take all of those old microSD cards cluttering up your workspace and turn them into something much more useful: a USB flash drive which is more than the sum of its parts.

Designed by Fang-Chung Tsai, the Collector USB Flash Drive would have its own base amount of memory. Add up to three microSD cards and you have got yourself a decent amount of storage space for only the cost of the original flash drive. The Collector is sadly not in production at the moment, but if this baby ever becomes a real-life gadget there are throngs of geeks out there who would love a storage solution like this.

2 Watch Phones Hit the European Market

We thought we’d never see the day, but the watch phone has actually arrived. We’ll not beat around the bush: we think it’s a dumb idea. It may sound cool to be able to call someone from your wristwatch, but they’re big and bulky, while the touchscreen seems tiny enough to necessitate button-mashing. And who uses their phone just for talking these days? Never known for heeding our warnings, though, LG and Samsung both went ahead and unveiled watch phones over the summer.

LG’s GD910 is pretty much just what you’d expect from a watch phone: it’s big, it’s thick, it’s kind of uncomfortable. According to Engadget’s review, it functions just fine, other than having somewhat difficult-to-navigate menus. The big drawback for any watch phone is, of course, having to buy and use a Bluetooth headset because you don’t want the whole world listening to both sides of your conversation. And then there’s the issue of the price: over $800 US. That’s a lot of cash for what amounts to a flashy toy.

The Samsung 9110 is a little less bulky, a little less pricey (about $639 after conversion), but has a little less memory (40MB vs. LG’s 2GB). The scratch-resistant glass, stainless steel body and real leather wristband look nice, but still has the issues inherent with any phone you wear on your wrist. It also features a touch screen in that awkward size between “small enough to fit on a watch face” and “big enough that I can actually use it.” But if the watch phone happens to be your thing, you could do worse than the Samsung.

Nokia W7 and W8 will be Nokia’s next Windows Phone 7 Phones

Well, this is nothing but a rumor but According to Eldar Murtazin, the next Nokia high end phones with Windows Phone 7 will be the Nokia W7 and Nokia W8. We know nothing about the specs yet. (As its still a rumor)

Eldar also says that as per Microsoft’s requirements all the Nokia WP7 prototypes are built upon Qualcomm Chipset. According to him, the Nokia W7 is based on X7 hardware base and W8 is based on N8′s hardware base. (As you can see in the picture above)

A dozen of Windows Phone 7 powered Nokia devices will come in the start of 2012.

Look Around You: Unique 360-Degree Panoramic Camera

Panoramic cameras can produce some truly fascinating images, but how often are the cameras themselves made with a gorgeous design? The Lomography Spinner 360 is an awesome spinning camera that takes unique images in a variety of ways…and the camera itself is just as awesome as the pictures it produces.

The camera works with the simple pull of a string: the user pulls the string and lets it go, and the camera’s top portion spins around while exposing the 35mm film inside. By holding the camera in different ways or controlling the speed with which the string retracts, the user can completely customize the way the images will turn out.

Water Powered Gadgets and Designs!

1. Bedol Eco-Friendly Clock
Apparently this is the greenest and the meanest clock available in the market. Add plain water and some lemon juice and the clock is up and running for 8-12 weeks. The device has an in-built memory chip which remembers the time, in case the water runs out and the clock is dead. The Bedol Eco-Friendly Clock is completely pollution free, never asks for any electricity, and priced at a mere $16.00, it’s absolutely a great deal!

2. Water Powered Calculator

Although, calculators are nearing extinction some people still seem to like them. So here comes a calculator which runs on water (or any electrolytic liquid). Unlike most of the other calculators this has a really great design. By filling water in, the fuel cells will run for about a month and once it is out you can just refill with water and it is up and running again. This water powered calculator is priced at $20 and a great option if you want to stop using batteries.

3. Water Powered Cellphone Batteries

Korean, mobile phone manufacturer Samsung, had announced earlier that they are working on a cell phone battery which would be running on water. Fuel cells will hold the water and a reaction between water and the metal interior will create Hydrogen, it will generate energy when it later reacts with Oxygen. It looks like it will generate enough energy to support your phone for 10 hours, however, the hydrogen cells would have to be replaced once or twice a week. More details on the water powered cell phone battery are expected to come out this year.

4. NoPoPo Liquid Charging Batteries
This AA battery needs your pee to generate energy! While this sounds really crazy but it works absolutely fine. The images shows pee being transferred in to the battery through a pipette while there is no information of how you get it in to the pipette. My guess, you pee in a flask and use the pipette to get some of the pee and then you do what you see in the image. Weird, isn’t it? Well, don’t gross out guys, as water (also blood) can get the job done. Later, a mixture of magnesium and carbon inside the battery reacts with the liquid and powers the NoPoPo battery up to 500 mAh.

5. Water-Powered Mini Lantern and Flashlight
This again is a product from NoPoPo and thankfully as what we’ve discussed earlier it is alright if you don’t use pee. Well, this is a NoPoPo Water powered Mini Lantern and Flashlight set more specifically a two-in-one device. This product uses a refillable water battery and it is supposed to last for ten years without losing charge. This seems to be a great eco-friendly camping device and is available $39.99 without shipping.

6.  etLev Water Powered Jetpack
If you are interested in flying (not in an airplane), then the JetLev Flyer is just the right thing for you. This is a much safer and an environment friendly way than the personal jetpack. It seems that you can learn to take off, fly, turn and hover in under 6 minutes. It seems to be great fun over water and if given a choice, I will go for this one.

7. Irish Water-Powered Street Lamps

Although this technique has been used for a long time on a much larger scale, the Donegal County Council in Ireland has come up with a solution to reduce the electricity used by street lights. The fact is, almost every city that has street lights contributes largely to the electricity consumption and a solution like this one can be a really great. The county plans to use water power to generate renewable energy for the street lights. It would be based on a water turbine and is expected to generate 110 watts of clean electricity which will run a 3-watt LED light. However, the cost for this is €3000 ($3921.90) each, this is really high but further research and development might bring in some effective changes.

8. Eco-Electric

This is a concept product which will teach users about water conservation. It has a turbine pod which will allow the device to generate electricity using the existing grey water in the house. The display shows per hour water consumption rates and also the right amount of usage levels. The device may be really helpful but it may probably take a lot more time to become available.

9. Mini Hydro Turbine
Simply hook this up with any available faucet and once the water starts flowing through the in-built turbine it will generate enough electricity to power something like an electric shaver or even a hair dryer, if not available it is at least a good theory. It looks like the device will generate electricity depending on the pressure that pushes and sprays the water, a battery will store the extra energy while water will drop from the tap at a reduced speed.

10. Nano-Tech Water Drop Puzzle
To all those puzzle loving green heads, here’s something which may totally interest you. Simply add water into the panel and thanks to its interesting nano technology panel, the water becomes an “aqua drop.” It has four different difficulty levels and you have to move the drops in the right position. The puzzle is good to exercise your brain and it also helps you improve your IQ and EQ levels. The Nano-Tech Water Drop Puzzle is available as $22.00 and is a really great device to collect.

Acer’s Iconia Tab A500 – $450 On April 24th

The days of spending $600 for an Android Honeycomb tablet are nearly done – on April 24th, the Acer Iconia Tab A500 will wash that value away with waves of brushed aluminum. That’s when the WiFi-only version of Acer’s Android 3.0 tablet will hit Best Buy and online retail for $450 sans contract, but with the same basic raft of specs as the WiFi-only Motorola Xoom: a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 250 SOC, a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 LCD screen, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of flash storage, a 5 megapixel camera around back and a 2 megapixel imager up front, HDMI-out, not to mention a pair of 3260mAh batteries that Acer claims are capable of 8 hours of life while playing HD video.

In 2015: Android first, Windows Phone second, iPhone third

Smartphone vendors will ship more than 450 million smartphones in 2011 compared to the 303.4 million units shipped in 2010. Furthermore, the smartphone market will grow more than four times faster than the overall mobile phone market: 49.2 percent in 2011 as more consumers and enterprise users turn in their feature phones for smartphones, according to International Data Corporation

Last year, Android took second place in 2010. This year, it will take the crown (which is not too shocking) and will steadily continue to grow share into 2015. Vendors who bet on Android as the mobile OS that would push their smartphone strategies saw great results last year, but the next few years look even more promising.
What may be a bit more surprising is the expectations IDC has for the Nokia-Microsoft deal. Up until the launch of Windows Phone 7 last year, Microsoft has steadily lost market share. The new alliance, however, will result in Windows Phone taking second place by 2015. Meanwhile, as Symbian is phased out, it will quickly fall into last place.
Where does that leave the rest of the market in 2015? IDC believes iOS will be in third and BlackBerry will be in fourth. It does not even mention HP’s webOS.
“Overall market growth in 2010 was exceptional,” said Kevin Restivo, senior research analyst with IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker. “Last year’s high market growth was due in part to pent-up demand from a challenging 2009, when many buyers held off on mobile phone purchases. The expected market growth for 2011, while still notable, will taper off somewhat from what we saw in 2010.”
